First time riding with Nico was around 2002 when I was filming new movie for Absinthe films, Transendence. His eyes were sparkling and full of stoke and energy, really motivated and spreading good vibes. The new Burton kid, we’re riding like a ninja sticking all of his landings, in a really light feet way not by muscle power. Especially in a smaller windlip with less time in the air. Getting around so smooth and riding out looking like a feather light cat you could see the skills riding natural transitions making the most of what was around us.

Switzerland and Laax resort, is his home with Europe’s best half pipe and Freestyle Park. Schooled in the pipe and park mixing it up with freeriding explain a little of how he’s all round control was so good at young age.

That first day riding together with Nico was really cool and I remember thinking he’s “new school” but “The new school” about Nico there and then was to see someone equipped with so much skills in riding apart from just tricks. It´s been great moments bumping into Nico over the years. Since first day until today, I still find him with the same sparkling eyes for snowboarding. Nicholas for me is a true friend, and also one of the most pure riders carrying the spirit of snowboarding. I see, a mix of influences from 3 generations in his riding. From legends like Craig Kelly or Jeff Brushie.

When I ride with him I can see through his love and passion into his personal style.
